Alejandro Casazi’s (Castaño Isaza) work comprises a diverse range of media including: printmaking, installation, sculpture, video, sound, photography, and works on paper (using unconventional drawing and/or printmaking techniques).
The artist alludes to issues of collective vs. singular, and in relation, macro vs. micro in an effort to understand the elemental experiences of human beings (breathing, pulse, taste, etc.). Often, his final product is achieved through interdisciplinary collaborative projects.
Casazi is originally from Bogotá, Colombia and is currently a resident of California, where he works as a Lecturer in the Department of Art at the University of California, Santa Barbara and as the Senior Artist at the Interdisciplinary Humanities Center where he also performs as the Chief Curator of PLATFORM.
He received his B.F.A from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá, COL in 2005 and his M.F.A from the University of California, Santa Barbara, CA in 2009.
Casazi´s work currently can be found in collections such as the Bancroft Library (Special Collections), Stanford University, the University of California, Santa Barbara and private collections.
